Tapping

One of the first signs of spring around here is when people start tapping maple trees to get their sap which will later be boiled down into maple syrup. When I was a kid, I remember my father tapping the trees around our house for this purpose. These photos were taken three years ago at a farm in Hartland, VT. that my good friend Jeremiah worked at. It was my first time using snowshoes and I took a few falls before getting used to them. Ha!

All for the Promise of Orange Soda

My friend Monica's son Dominic needed a little trim around the ears one night, so my brother Ryan and his fiance Samantha took on the task.
Ryan keeps Dominic still while Samantha does the trimming.

Dominic is rewarded with orange soda after the process.

The Unfortunate Adventures of Matthew Smith

A couple of winters ago, some friends and I went snowboarding at Okemo Mtn. in Vermont. While on what I believe was the last run of the day, my accident prone (to say the least) friend Matt fell and cut more than his whole upper lip open.

Surveying the damage.
Surveying the repair.
