Living in the woods is great and all, but these moths and other bugs crowd around the door at night and they're so persistent it's impossible to open the front door without at least one of them getting inside. Oh well. This one happens to be on the outside of the window, where it belongs.

Terlingua, TX Locals
These were taken back in May while on my way to Big Bend National Park with some friends. We stayed in a town next door to Terlingua (pop. around 270).

Elijah and "Hat"
Both make a living in Terlingua by doing odd jobs.
Elijah's Car
There are over 13,000 strips of tape covering his car. "Each strip of tape represents a prayer" he said.

We passed by this 3 or so times on our road trip to Big Bend National Park and unfortunately all 3 times we were met by a "closed" sign.

Goodbye Party
Inspired by the colored lights in each room, I turned up the contrast and saturation on my camera and shot away! Here are a few I liked....
Perhaps a goodbye in text form?
The dance floor.
Writing a goodbye note, old fashioned (ha!) paper style.

Spring, Where Art Thou?
I've been thinking about this post for a while, compiling images on my desktop and procrastinating about posting them here. This is usually how every post goes. What really pushed me today was the thought of enjoying one of the blueberry muffins in the picture down below. It was warm, made with blueberries that were picked by the baker herself, and accompanied by a fresh cup of coffee. Alas, this delicious muffin was scarfed down almost a month ago so I'm left sitting here on this beautiful spring day rainy gray day wishing I had one. Now before you go on feeling bad for me, just know I'll be in Texas in 14 days, enjoying scorching temperatures to make up for the lack of what I consider to be appropriate spring weather here in good ol' New Hampshire.

A Winter Hike
Mount Cardigan
Orange, New Hampshire
January 24th, 2011
The road to the parking lot was closed.
Despite the cold temps, the sunshine felt beautiful.
Not wanting to waste the great lighting, I coerced John into sitting down for a photo. He hammed it up, as you can see.
Taken from the top of a scraggly tree. Though it can't be all too scraggly if it's holding its own at the top of a frigid, windy mountain. My apologies Mr. Tree.
Looking out from the top of a small, but mighty tree.
The fire tower.

New Years Eve
You're likely to end up in a situation like this if you embark on a joy ride through the woods with John and Paul. Yes, please!
